Kerry Logistics building new hub in Xiamen

Asian-based carrier Kerry Logistics has started building a new facility in Xiamen, China.
Described by the company as ‘state-of-the-art’, the 42,600 square metre logistics centre will facilitate products across a wide range of industries including hi-tech & electronics, food & beverage, wine, and temperature-sensitive cargoes.

Situated at Haicang Export Processing Zone, the facility will commence operations in the third quarter of 2012. Haicang is one of the 15 Export Processing Zones approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is also a bonded area and has been fully equipped with roads, electricity, telecommunications, water, sewage treatment, heaters and has a liquefied gas supply, the company said.

Supported by Kerry Logistics’ comprehensive network in Mainland China and Taiwan, the Kerry Xiamen Logistics Centre is strategically located to cater for increased growth in cross-straits trade.

Plans for the new centre emerged after Kerry Logistics launched a global corporate re-branding in April to reflect the company’s new identity of “open-ness, integrity, a deep-rooted culture and its commitment and aspiration to excellence”.

The new look is a response to the changing environment in which the Kerry Logistics brand now operates. It includes the introduction of a new logo – a vibrant orange and grey. The phased re-branding roll out across the globe will see new signage on buildings, and the new logo on vehicles, uniforms, websites and brochureware.

“The re-branding is a statement that we have changed to reflect the new realities of the marketplace. The changes will enable us to grow as a company and be better able to support our customers and partners to succeed in China, Asia and beyond,” said Emily Kwan, head of corporate communications.
