TNT Express increases flight portfolio in Iraq

TNT Express has expanded its air operations in Iraq in a bid to support rapidly increasing commercial activities of its key clients. The company will now operate six flights per week in the country, which will provide a “cost and time effective solution besides conventional sea and air freight services”.

This air network expansion will play a crucial role in Iraq’s recovering economy due to the continuous demand for high quality express services, the company said.

Wasfi Barzanji, general manager of MATEEN Express, TNT’s Associate in Iraq, said: ”We are now in a position to deliver greater time savings and better connections to our customers, thus supporting Iraq’s business across the Middle East, Asia and Europe.”

TNT Express offers its customers the opportunity to send larger and heavier items through its Economy Express service, providing the features of an Express operator at the costs of an airfreight supplier.

Shipping prices are based on a convenient flat rate determined by geographical zones, and the delivery is guaranteed within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the destination.

Tim Frank, general manager for TNT Associates in the Middle East and Indian sub-continent, said: “Multinational companies are competing over the reconstruction contracts and have heavily invested in creating the appropriate infrastructure to support their presence. We needed to improve the connectivity of our Middle East operations to ensure continued service excellence for our customers while paving the way for profitable growth.”

TNT Express in Iraq is represented by MATEEN Express; the company is one of the leading express providers in Iraq and has presence in the UAE and China and expansion plans to Germany, Turkey and Malaysia.

Bryan Moulds, Managing Director for TNT Express Middle East commented:” This expansion complements TNT Express’ focus on strengthening our networks by expanding into emerging markets. This step reflects TNT Express’ strategic intent to become the leading express delivery provider in emerging markets.”
