Slovak Post Office reports SK434M in profits for Jan-Sept

The Slovak Post Office Slovenska posta (SP) showed profits of Sk434 million on revenues of Sk4.521 billion and costs of Sk4.087 billion in January-September of the year, spokeswoman Petra Malarova told a news conference today.

“Compared with the same period of last year, we saw profits grow by Sk188 million,” she added.

Full-year gross profits are projected at Sk146.484 million, as costs should not exceed Sk5.458 billion and revenues are seen at Sk5.604 billion.

In full-year 2000, SP made gross profits of Sk97.447 million on revenues of Sk5.236 billion.

At present, SP is being transformed into a joint-stock company, fully owned by the state, and the process is to be completed in the spring of 2002.

SP, which provides its services through 1,620 post offices in Slovakia, employs almost 17,700 people who receive an average monthly wage of Sk10,600.
