UPS appoints executives to drive business in Asia Pacific

UPS has promoted two of its top business development executives with experience in Chinese activities to drive sales and marketing in the whole Asia Pacific region. The company has appointed its North Asia District business development VP, Christopher Perkins, as the new vice president for business development for 40 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific area.

It has also promoted senior director of enterprise pricing Philip Wu to become vice president of marketing for the Asia Pacific region.

The appointments come to replace respectively Geoff Bastow and Chriss Brubb, who are moving to new assignments at UPS headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

Both executives have previously worked closely together in China, and will now see their sales and marketing responsibilities stretching from China and Japan through to India, and as far south as Australia and New Zealand.

Perkins

Perkins has been at UPS since 1982, rising through the business development ranks before relocating to China as director of sales in 2006. He has been VP for business development in the North Asia District since 2010.

Perkins said of his new role: “Asia is a key strategic region for UPS. I am excited to further develop the business here and help Asian customers better connect to their global markets through UPS’s integrated logistics solution.”

Wu

Wu has been with UPS for 19 years, and while his most recent role has seen him based in Atlanta, from 2007 until recently he was marketing director for the UPS China District, including a stint in China heading the company’s alliance with Internet giant Alibaba.

Prior to his Chinese role, Wu spent time in Singapore as marketing director of revenue management, business planning and analysis.

“I look forward to building upon the great strides the team here has accomplished and to growing the UPS brand further,” said Wu of his latest appointment. “Asia’s dynamic and diverse business environment, with all its opportunities, makes it an exciting place to be right now.”

UPS has its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, while its operations in the region include 13,604 employees, with 1,796 vehicles and 308 sites including offices, package centres, hubs, distribution centres and warehouses.
