UPS extends early morning delivery coverage in US

UPS has said it is now providing a “more robust” line-up of delivery services for millions of businesses in the United States.
The company said on Monday it had completed a second expansion in just nine months, extending its coverage area for early morning deliveries.

For the critical 8 a.m. delivery option, the improvement has allowed UPS to extend delivery to more ZIP codes and more businesses than anyone, the Atlanta-based integrator claimed.

UPS also increased the number of ZIP codes it serves by 10:30 a.m. with its regular express service, another arena in which UPS already was serving more ZIP codes and businesses than any other carrier, it said.

The latest U.S. coverage expansion involved more than 2,600 Early A.M. and Next Day Air ZIP codes. More than 80 percent of all U.S. businesses now can receive guaranteed early morning UPS deliveries.

“Customers tell us every second counts,” said Alan Gershenhorn, UPS’s chief sales and marketing officer.

“Take healthcare laboratories, for example. Every package represents a patient and getting results back faster is critical. Earlier deliveries can be the customer experience difference, and they provide all companies a real competitive advantage. Businesses know they can depend on UPS for fast and reliable service.”

UPS said other types of business benefitting from earlier urgent deliveries include automotive, industrial manufacturing, high-tech and professional service companies with a need for early-morning delivery of equipment, parts and documents.
