Rising Star scoops up Carrifreight business

Forwarder Star Cargo has acquired the business of Hertfordshire-based Carrifreight for an undisclosed sum.
Carrifreight’s European road transport arm will be incorporated into Star subsidiary Sealane Freight.
The company’s worldwide freight forwarding operation, which accounted for half its business, will be merged into Fastnet Forwarding.
Star Cargo chairman John James said Carrifreight clients could expect enhanced service including UK warehousing and distribution and improved traceability of cargo.
He said: “We are confident we can seamlessly integrate the new work into our operations, and have invested in new resources to ensure we can deliver a premier service.” Sealane is expanding its fleet of 150 trailers and aims from next month to operate 40 trucks daily across Europe, including hi-cube road trains.
