UPS develops service parts team

UPS Supply Chain Solutions has added an in-house parts planning team to the service parts logistics division of its UPS Logistics Group, to help customers more accurately forecast their need for parts logistics services. (4/15/2002)

UPS has chosen Baxter Planning Systems to provide parts planning software.

The company’s service includes parts warehousing, returns, repairs, management of clients’ critical spares inventory, tracking of end-to-end parts movement and expedited delivery to meet warranty obligations and minimize operational downtime. The parts planning service is aimed at identifying ways to balance the cost of holding inventory against the penalties of warranty contracts by having the right parts at the right place and right time, UPS said in a statement.
