FedEx cuts delivery times in Europe

SHIPPERS using FedEx Express’s International Priority Direct Distribution service for multiple-recipient shipments can now consolidate packages under one international airwaybill.
FedEx has launched Single Point of Clearance (SPOC) which allows customers to consolidate, clear Customs as one consolidated shipment and deliver to multiple final recipients in up to 12 different European Union countries from the USA and many countries in Asia.
“Unlike competing services, SPOC allows customers to send one consolidated shipment that clears Customs through a single gate-
way, enabling them to simplify and speed up their import process into the EU,” says a FedEx spokesman.
SPOC requires just one set of paperwork to provide tracking and tracing, automated shipment processing and inbound visibility with single-piece tracking, coupled with the FedEx moneyback guarantee.
“It will benefit many industries, including consumer electronics or durable manufacturers who may produce goods in Asia or the US, by reducing the need for distribution centres in Europe, minimising order-cycle times and increasing their inventory turns,” the spokesman
points out.
With SPOC, customers can potentially accelerate their distribution to between two and four days and decrease order-to-delivery cycles by as much as four to 12 days.
“With this new service FedEx Express renders the international marketplace more accessible to our customers. As product development becomes more complex and time-to-market becomes a competitive advantage, import options such as this one will offer attractive solutions to EMEA customers,” enthuses Main Chailld, vice-president of sales for FedEx in Europe and the Middle East.
