Chronopost sees growth

Express distribution operator Chronopost International, which is owned by the French post office, has announced an increase in turnover and traffic in 2001.
Consolidated turnover rose 8.5% year on year to €689m, while global traffic was up 8.3%, with Chronopost transporting 65m document and parcel shipments.

While Chronopost’s French business showed the strongest growth, turnover from international markets dipped to €111.8m, compared with €148.1m in 2000.

This was largely due to a change in the group’s structure following the acquisition of Prosegur in Portugal, the closure of some operations in Switzerland, integration of UK subsidiaries and the deconsolidation of part of the turnover of its Spanish subsidiary.
