Europa pushes the boat out
Europa Worldwide Logistics one of the largest privately owned transport and logistics companies in the UK is growing its team with the appointment of a new National Air & Sea Freight Sales Manager. Europa recently announced that it’s air freight operation in Hong Kong registered record results over the past 12 months with year on year growth of 116% from 2012 to 2013.
Europa’s dedicated Sea & Air Freight Operations offers an end to end solution across the globe. It’s approach to developing niche markets has enabled Europa to establish its place in the air and sea freight market.
According to the latest Stifel Logistics Confidence Index, in January – which measures freight activity across selected European trade lanes, there appears to be “a healthy confidence” in air and sea-freight forwarding. The report highlights growing success especially in the Asia-Europe trade.
The new role of National Air & Sea Freight Sales Manager is part of Europa’s strategic development in this part of the operation which is now headed up by Angus Hind (Air, Ocean & Logistics Director) – who joined Europa in November with a remit to nurture and grow these products including Europa’s Hong Kong operations
Angus Hind, Air, Ocean & Logistics Director comments “I am pleased that we have expanded our team and brought in Miles O’Donnell to the new role as National Air and Sea Freight Sales Manager based from Europa’s Birmingham office. Miles has a proven track record and his experience will be essential to product growth in the coming years. As part of his role Miles will work closely with the operational teams to formulate long term business strategies and sales plans.” .
Miles moves from his current role as Branch Manager for Europa’s Leeds office where, since joining the company in November he has grown the office from a standing start to a very healthy level of consignments per month. Miles started his logistics career at RH Freight where he started as a graduate trainee – he stayed with the business following the buy-out by Kuehne & Nagel.
Europa was acquired by Andrew Baxter in August last year, who announced his plans for significant investment in the business. He has already delivered two major projects to deliver this promise, aimed at expanding and building Europa. The branch network has been extended with a new office in Leeds plus Europa has just announced it is investing in a state-of-the-art 262,500 sq. ft head office and South of England hub, at Prologis Park near Dartford.
