DHL extends Eurapid service

DHL extends Eurapid service

DHL Freight, one of the providers of road freight services in Europe, has expanded its Eurapid service across Europe with 11 new terminals joining the network at the beginning of May. The day-definite service for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments up to 2.5 tons is now available at 41 terminals and covers 75 percent of all business addresses in Europe. The company is looking to enroll the remaining terminals by the end of 2015, based on market and demand.

“Certain industries such as the Technology or Fashion and Apparel sectors demand higher frequencies and reliable execution. Eurapid serves this need and has been accepted by our customers very well. Since demand is strong and growing, the expansion of the service availability is running as planned”, said Amadou Diallo, CEO DHL Freight.

The road freight network of DHL is expanded by one station each in Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Switzerland. Additionally, two stations in Germany (Worms, Renningen) have been integrated into the network. Going forward, DHL Freight plans to further extend the coverage of Eurapid. The company announced that nine more stations are going to join the network by the end of the year. In total, 80 percent of DHL Freight’s international business would then be covered.
