Salvesen oils the wheels of ExxonMobil in the UK
European logistics company Christian Salvesen has developed its presence in the packaged lubricants market by winning the contract to store and distribute ExxonMobil products in the UK.
The deal involves Mobil and Esso branded packed lubricants. Salvesen’s industrn division had been providing UK logistics for the BP Mobil joint venture since 1997, until the joint venture was recently brought to an end following the merger of Exxon and Mobil Corporations.
Mobil’s blending plant and warehouse at Birkenhead, Merseyside, is due to close in July, when Salvesen will take responsibility for running the ExxonMobil warehouse at Basildon, Essex.
From Basildon, stock will be trunked to Salvesen net work delivery depots across the UK for delivery, via Salvesen’s shared-user fleet, to ExxonMobil customers. Dave Betts, managing director UK of Salvesen’s industrial division, says: ‘We believe that the speed and flexibility of our UK shared network. coupled with our European credentials, were major factors in winning this high profile contract
Salvesen already handles UK distribution of packaged lubricants for Shell, Kuwait Petrole rn and Texaco.
