United Parcel Service opens office in Bangalore
EXPRESS carrier and package delivery company, United Parcel Service (UPS), has launched full-fledged operations in Bangalore.
The company will now operate own branded vehicles and use dedicated sales force and deploy UPS management systems and technology to provide quality service.
The move is part of UPS’s long-term goal to improve its service in India and serve the IT industry in Bangalore better.
With the opening of the new office, customers in the Garden City can look forward to world-class technology, which will enable them not only to track their packages but also view the signature on the Internet.
UPS will also introduce its proprietary tool, DIAD II (Delivery Acquisition Device) in Bangalore, a company release here.
DIAD is a handheld mini-computer that UPS drivers use to record, store and transmit package information. It not only replaces traditional paper delivery records, but also digitally captures customers’ signature and package information.
In the system, the consignee’s signature gets automatically uploaded on the UPS Web site, which can be accessed to effect payment of goods from consignee to shipper.
The digitally captured information circumvents the paperwork involved in keeping a record of the shipment delivery and also enables all UPS service providers to process delivery information requests faster.
UPS has also introduced products such as UPS Worldwide Express Plus- for deliveries to the US which will accelerate delivery times for UPS customers, the release said.
The express service company also opened its intra-Asia air hub in Philippines this month, which will accelerate the delivery time for goods moving from within and out of Asia.
