NPI to upgrade Brazil Post sorting machines

US firm National Presort Inc (NPI) has won a contract to upgrade sorting technology at Brazil Post. The company said the $11m deal will see the replacement of controlled electronics, bar code readers and software within existing sorting machinery.

The installations on the Siemens Delivery Bar Code Sorter machines is due to take place in early 2015 and is expected to add at least 10 years of lifespan to Brazil’s existing postal sorting systems.

NPI said along with the upgrades, it will also provide a variety of ongoing support to Brazil Post including training, documentation and technical support.

Henry Daboub, founder and chief executive officer of Dallas-based NPI, said the deal with Brazil Post came as the company positions itself to provide upgrade services for Posts’ existing sorting machinery rather than just supplying its own postal sorting systems.

“Mail processing organizations no longer have to rely solely on the original manufacturers of their equipment for replacement parts or upgrades,” he said.

“Instead, NPI can customize and install its control systems and software to work seamlessly with their existing equipment, preventing those machines from becoming technologically obsolete while reducing their carbon footprint.”
