Parcel firm fails to deliver
Distribution companies waiting for payments from stricken parcels firm Apex may not receive a penny, its administrators have warned.
Deloitte and Touche was called in last month ending weeks of speculation athat the Midlands hub was to fold. Now dozens of distribution companies are attempting to claim back money owed to them.
John Simmonds, partner in Surrey-based Simmons of Elstead, which is owed almost £7,000, says the administrators have told him the outlook is bleak.
‘We were told that there was very little money left in the company finances and we might get nothing at all‘ he says.
Roadrunner East Anglia also stands to lose thousands of pounds. Manager Robert Barrett says the family business has had to resort to overnight and same-day deliveries in an attempt to stay afloat while awaiting the £30,000 it is owed.
A spokesman was unable to give a date for a creditors‘ meeting.
