Amazon launches Prime Day

On the eve of its 20th birthday, Amazon has announced that Wednesday, 15 July will be Prime Day – “a global shopping event, offering more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members”. In an official launch statement published on its website today (6 July), Amazon added another layer of exclusivity:  the event is restricted to Prime members in the US, UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria.

The Prime Day deals will start midnight “with new deals starting as often as every ten minutes”. Amazon customers who are not already Prime members can sign up for a 30-day free trial.

Amazon Prime membership offers free, two-day shipping and there are also options available for customers who want a faster delivery service on some goods.
