Taiwanese postal rates for outgoing international mail to be adjusted

The Directorate General of Posts under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is to adjust postage rates for outgoing international parcels both by air and sea on Thursday, according to a statement released by the MOTC.

Due to the fact that transportation and collection fees for local post offices have been increasing, the DPG decided to make the adjustment to postage rates.

The areas affected by the adjustment include 35 countries and areas.

According to the new adjustment, the postage rates for outgoing international parcels will be calculated by weight after the first kilogram.

Current postage is charged by divisions of weight such as 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 kilograms. Each division has a fixed price.

The DGP indicated that it has been 16 years since the postage rates were adjusted in 1986.
