UK Post Office in talks over funding as losses deepen

The UK’s Post Office is in talks over a possible government bailout amid deepening losses that are likely to exceed 1 bln stg this year, reported The Times.

The report said Allan Leighton, chairman of Consignia, the Post Office parent company, has warned losses at the company are accelerating.

It says Consignia is now in talks with the Department of Trade and Industry about how it will fund the shortfall, and will push for either a government bailout or a commercial loan.
