Australia Post CEO to appear before Senate inquiry on working visas
Australia Post’s chief executive Ahmed Fahour is scheduled to appear before a Senate inquiry into working visas. As previously reported, there have been allegations that some delivery contractors used by Australia Post have been underpaying workers and illegally using foreign student labour.
The Senate inquiry, which is looking at “the impact of Australia’s temporary work visa programs on the Australian labour market and on the temporary work visa holders”, has extended its reporting date to 14 October to take account of new evidence.
SWenator Sue Lines, who chairs the inquiry, was reported by local media as saying that the parent companies must take responsibility for the actions of their contractors or franchisees.
