Amazon and UKTI team up to help UK SMEs increase exports and grow e-commerce sales

Amazon has announced a new partnership with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) which it says is designed to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) increase their exports and grow their e-commerce sales. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on Thursday (17 September) at the GREAT Global Investment Conference 2015 in Central London.

Commenting on the partnerships, Catherine Raines, Chief Executive Officer of UKTI, said: “The global e-commerce market grew by more than 20% last year, underscoring the huge opportunity for businesses of all sizes to grow their businesses by increasing their sales online and expanding to new markets.

“By working with industry partners such as Amazon, UKTI is helping to make sure British businesses set the pace both in terms of e-commerce and exports.”

In a statement issued on Thursday, Amazon said tht it has “created a suite of capabilities that help UK companies to sell their products abroad, including helping to manage currency exchange, translation, regulatory complexity, tax and duty, marketing and global shipment and distribution”.
