Cybersecurity expert joins Amazon’s Board of Directors
Kevin Mandia, a widely recognised cybersecurity expert with more than 30 years of experience combating cyber threats across the public and private sectors, was elected to Amazon’s Board of Directors on September 8.

Mandia is the founder and CEO of Armadin, Inc., a cybersecurity company that helps secure the largest and most complex environments in the world, and the co-founder and general partner of Ballistic Ventures, a venture capital firm where he mentors and funds the next generation of cybersecurity entrepreneurs. He also founded and previously served as the CEO of Mandiant, Inc., a cybersecurity firm acquired by Google LLC in September 2022.
He has previously served on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Cybersecurity Advisory Committee. In the U.S. Air Force, he served as a computer security officer at the Pentagon and later as a special agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
Cybersecurity is one of the most consequential risks and responsibilities organizations face today, and the threat landscape continues to evolve rapidly alongside advances in AI. Mandia is a global leader in cybersecurity whose experience building and leading companies that defend the world’s most complex organizations—and investing in the next generation of security entrepreneurs through Ballistic Ventures—will help inform the Board’s perspective on these opportunities and challenges. His election reflects our commitment to having appropriate experience and perspectives at all levels of the company, including our Board of Directors.
