Tesco Direct feeling the strain of “unexpected high demand”

Tesco Direct has advised customers that “due to unexpected high demand, all deliveries will take 5-7 days”. In an apology posted on its website, the UK retailer added: “We are currently experiencing high demand. If you choose Click+Collect or Standard delivery, please allow five to seven days for your order to arrive. Express delivery is currently unavailable.”

The “Express delivery” is a next-day service – and it is not clear when this service will be back up and running.

The retailer does, however, say that “orders from our Partners will be unaffected”.

Sources report that Tesco has taken this step because of the popularity of its Clubcard Boost promotion, through which Club Card members can exchange £5 of vouchers for £10 worth of online tokens, which can be used for products like computer games, tablets and TVs.
