Hastings Freight appoints new general manager

Derbyshire-based Hastings Freight, a member of the Palletways network, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of a general manager. Steve Reed has been appointed to improve the firms’ customer service offering and will head up a 60-strong team.

According to Palletways, Reed “brings with him a wealth of logistics industry experience having held senior roles at a number of pallet networks”.

Commenting on the appointment, Gary Askwith, operations director at Hastings Freight, said: “Hastings Freight is now, and has been for some time, a 24-hour operation.  It’s a complex business which demands the attention of a general manager who has the right blend of skills and experience to oversee the day to day service delivery to our customers while at the same time, facilitate our plans for further development.”

This latest appointment follows the recruitment of nine young members of staff along with three new additions to the night shift.
