Grofers closes delivery operations in nine Indian cities

On-demand grocery delivery specialist Grofers has closed its operations in nine Indian cities. Grofers co-founder Albinder Dhindsa was quoted by the IT news website TechCrunch as saying that the withdrawal from Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Kochi, Ludhiana, Mysuru, Nashik, Rajkot, and Visakhapatnam “was just a regular decision to not focus on areas where we were not seeing a significant number of transactions happening.”

Dhindsa added: “We have shut down cities and categories in the past as well and will continue to do it if it makes sense for the business.”

According to its website, the company is currently active in 17 Indian cities and still has plans to expand.
