Indian Railways inviting container train operators to run “parcel special trains”

Indian Railways is opening up its services and offering container train operators (CTOs) the opportunity to run “parcel special trains”, according to local sources. According to a report published yesterday (12 July) by The Financial Express, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has announced the liberalised parcel policy, saying that the plan is to boost the railways’ revenue from the parcel delivery sector.

The report added that the “parcel special trains” will each consist of 20 parcel vans.
