New Group Chief Executive for An Post

David McRedmond will be taking up his new role as Group Chief Executive of An Post at the start of October. Redmond, who has been appointed for a fixed seven-year term, will succeed Donal Connell who retired recently.

Redmond was CEO of  the Irish broadcaster TV3, which was sold to Liberty Global in December 2015. Prior to TV3, he was the Commercial Director of Eircom and the Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. Previous roles have included Operations Director of Waterstones, Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail and CEO of WH Smith Inc.

Dermot Divilly, An Post Chairman, said: “I am delighted to have attracted a business leader of the experience of David McRedmond to lead An Post through the challenging industry and technology environment in the years ahead.”

David McRedmond said: “It is an honour and a rare opportunity to be able to lead such a major organisation as An Post. The company has a magnificent history and is a great and much-loved brand. My job will be to ensure its future is as bright as its past, meeting the seismic market changes head-on with boldness and creativity.”
