Pos Malaysia looking for Alibaba tie-up

Pos Malaysia is reportedly looking to take a more direct role in providing parcel delivery services for China’s online retailer Alibaba. An article published by Bloomberg has quoted Pos Malaysia’s chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh as saying that the postal operator plans to have talks with Alibaba later this month with a view to bypassing intermediaries when shipping goods on its platforms.

“When e-commerce is booming, somebody needs to deliver these items,” Shukrie was quoted as saying. “Marketplace owners wants to deal with logistic players directly. I’m going to China to meet up with Alibaba and other market players.”
