D.E.S. launches Registered Post on PacketPort

Direct Entry Solutions (D.E.S.) has announced the launch of a new Registered Post platform on its PacketPort system. The new platform offers wholesalers and other D.E.S. customers an international Priority Registered mail product which is posted through D.E.S.’s extraterritorial offer of exchange (ETOE) with Austrian Post.

D.E.S. CEO Phil Coleman told Post&Parcel that a typical application for the new service would for e-commerce goods with a low basket value which need a tracking number but not a critical 1-2 day delivery time. However, added Coleman: “The platform will be of value to anybody who wants to access a fast and high quality mail network, with the extra comfort of a registered service.”

Clients can use the platform to upload data and automatically generate Registered labels.

The D.E.S. system receives tracking data from more than 280 Postal Administrations, which means that its clients have universal tracking.

The first event status scan takes place at the D.E.S. facility in Heathrow and the final scan is made when the item is delivered (or not delivered) in the destination country.

Using the tracking data and event status scans, D.E.S. clients can generate real-time reports and analysis on multiple or single consignments.

“We soft launched the service a couple of months ago and the feedback has been excellent,” said Coleman. “Wholesalers have found it particularly useful for the data uploads and tracking – and because it offers a really good central point of information.”
