Amazon launches its first Canadian robotics fulfilment centre
Amazon has officially launched its first robotics fulfilment centre (FC) in Canada. The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the launch ceremony for the new facility in Brampton, Ontario, which took place on Thursday (20 October).
In a notice posted on Amazon’s official blog, Alexandre Gagnon, Vice President of Amazon Canada and Amazon Mexico, said the Brampton FC is expected to be Amazon’s largest Canadian fulfilment centre with over 700 new jobs created for this site.
Gagnon added: “Amazon is continuing to grow and hire in Canada: we just announced we are hiring for more than 2,000 seasonal associate roles across the country, we are expanding our current team of 2,500 Amazonians across various business lines and recruiting for all levels, and we are preparing for the opening of our newest Amazon Web Services cloud computing region in the Prime Minister’s hometown of Montreal.
“Our corporate offices and development centers in Toronto and Vancouver are growing at a rapid pace as teams across Amazon expand throughout Canada.”
