DHL Slovakia delivers over 200,000 parcels last year
Express courier DHL Slovakia, s.r o., transported over 200,000 document and parcel shipments last year, up 7% y/y. In 2002 the company reported the most significant growth in sales and earnings for ten years of its operation in the country. “Growth can be ascribed to an extension of the product portfolio of products with a defined delivery time, shipment air transport and other services,” said director general Laurenc Svitok.
DHL posted the most significant (72%) increase in express delivery shipments to Slovakia from abroad. Shipments by Slovak firms headed chiefly to Germany, Great Britain and Austria. They made up about 95% of all DHL consignments last year. The firm completely renewed its vehicle fleet and built a new operation terminal for SKK 35 million in 2002.
DHL Slovakia employed 130 people last year. It plans to raise its sales by 15% y/y. Rising foreign investments following Slovakia’s invitation to the EU and NATO should be the next growth source.
DHL Slovakia is a subsidiary of DHL Worldwide Express, which employs about 69,000 people. It connects over 120,000 destinations in more than 220 countries worldwide. Its turnover stood at €6.2 billion in 2002. In Slovakia it operates branches in Bratislava, Trencin, Nitra, Banska Bystrica, Zilina, Kosice and Poprad.
