TAS Transport invests in “urban friendly” delivery vans

Heathrow-based TAS Transport has announced that it has addressed the growing challenge of city centre delivery and collection restrictions by investing in four “urban friendly” Luton vans. Palletways member TAs Transport has invested more than £60,000 in the fleet.

Tail lifts on the vehicles mean they can provide a quarter or mini quarter pallet service for customers in areas with tight delivery point access.  They also overcome limited parking and vehicle restriction on a number of roads in SW London where the largest vehicles able to access premises are 7.5 tonne vans.

Dwayne McKenzie, business development manager at TAS Transport, said: “The acquisition of these vans has had a significant impact on our ability to offer our customers an even more tailored service.

“Parking restrictions and getting in and out of tricky built up areas even with small deliveries was becoming more and more of an issue.  The urban fleet has addressed this and we’re getting great customer feedback.

“We are boosting the number of deliveries we can take into the built up areas, cutting emissions and improving the skills of our drivers. We certainly see the vans as a long term investment.”
