Solar panels powering bpost sorting centres

bpost has announced that 6,500 solar panels have now been installed on the roofs of its Charleroi and Liège sorting centres. The solar panels at the Fleurus (Charleroi) centre have just been inaugurated in the presence of the Walloon minister of energy Christophe Lacroix and the CEOs of bpost and Engie Benelux, Koen Van Gerven and Philppe van Troeye.

bpost gave the solar energy company ENGIE the use of the roofs to install the panels, which capture 17,000 m² of solar energy and are expected to produce 1,700,000 kWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 500 households. bpost said that most of the energy produced will be consumed locally.
