Croatian Law Regulates Protection for Postal

The Croatian parliament adopted a customer protection bill on Thursday aimed at introducing further European standards in the former Yugoslav republic that hopes to join the next wave of EU enlargement in 2007. The new law is the first to regulate protection in the field of public services and utilities, including fixed phone network, postal services, gas, electricity, heating and water utilities. Citizens in Croatia, which gained independence from communist Yugoslavia in 1991, have so far been at the mercy of state utilities and retailers, with limited right to control their monthly bills or return unsatisfactory goods.
