Kiribati adopts what3words on world.post.day

The Pacific island nation of Kiribati has become the eighth country to adopt the what3words addressing system. With a fine sense of timing, what3words and Kiribati Post announced their agreement on World Post Day yesterday (9 October).

”We are very delighted to expand our services in collaboration with what3words” said Willie Tekanene, manager of mail operations at Kiribati Post. ‘We believe what3words’ approach is an exciting new solution for our postal customers, so we’re thrilled to be forming a partnership to offer our customers a convenient delivery choice in the coming months.”

what3words co-founder and CEO, Chris Sheldrick, added: “Reliable addresses for home delivery will make an incredible difference to people’s lives in Kiribati, as well as opening up lucrative new business opportunities for the postal service”.

The other seven countries using the what3words system are: Mongolia, Sint-Maarten, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Tonga, Nigeria and Solomon Islands.
