Russian ministry hikes postal service tariffs 15%

Russia’s Telecommunications and IT Ministry has hiked postal service tariffs by an average of 15% as of Tuesday, ITAR-TASS reported quoting a source in the Anti-Monopoly Ministry.

Now it costs 3.15 rubles to send a post card, up from 2.75 rubles.

Sending a regular letter now costs 4.25 rubles, up from 3.70 rubles and it costs 6.30 rubles to send a registered letter, up from 5.50 rubles.

It will cost 7.40 rubles to send a packet, up from 6.45 rubles.

The new tariffs still barely offset the spending on providing postal services, the source said.
