Pall-Ex strengthens service for Eire

Road & Sea Express, market leaders in high quality delivery services to and from Scotland, Ireland and the offshore Islands, has joined the Pall-Ex network to serve Eire.

Alan Cramley, sales and marketing director at Pall-Ex, said:

“We are delighted that Road & Sea Express has become part of our network. Their excellent reputation and unrivalled experience in transporting goods to and from Eire will further strengthen the services we can offer. This comes at a time when we are expanding our services further in the UK as well as across Europe.”

Road & Sea Express was formed in 1978 to specialise in the Irish freight market and 25 years later its focus remains the same. With purpose built depots in Cheshire, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Coventry, Uxbridge, a turnover of around £15.5 million, 120 employees and 50 vehicles, Road & Sea Express has established a reputation for reliability and innovation. As a result, the company works for many blue-chip customers including Woolworths, Goodyear, Toyota and Toshiba.

Steve Wallace, sales and marketing director at Road & Sea Express, explains why they joined Pall-Ex:

“We were attracted to Pall-Ex because of its reputation for consistent service throughout the country. Being appointed member for Eire also generates good volume traffic supporting our routes, and brings additional revenue into the business.”

About Pall-Ex

Pall-Ex was established in 1996 by Hilary Sharples to cost effectively deliver small consignments of goods around the UK using a pallet freighting system. In seven years, Pall-Ex has successfully established itself as the UK’s largest “hub and spoke” palletised transport and logistics operation.

Located in a new purpose-built hub in the East Midlands, Pall-Ex now has 86 members throughout the UK, a fleet of nearly 6,000 vehicles. In late 2002, Pall-Ex expanded its operation into Europe to give customers a seamless service to and from key territories.

Pall-Ex uses the most sophisticated IT system in the industry, Pall-IT, to manage its operation and ensure it maintains its enviable 99.98% on-time record.

The company also believes in giving back to its industry by supporting transport sector charity, Transaid, with its Penny-A-Pallet scheme. For more information on Transaid, visit www.transaid.org.
