FedEx to expand Thailand van fleet

Federal Express Corp plans to expand its Thai van fleet next year to cope with growing demand.

The expansion will be supported by the export sector, which has sizeable potential for growth, said Clifton Chua, the global courier’s managing director for Thailand, Indochina and the Philippines.

FedEx currently operates 41 vans and 44 motorcycles in Thailand, as well as 12 flights per day out of Bangkok International Airport.

Chua called the recent Thai-American open-skies pact for cargo crucial for the US-based company’s expansion.

He said the deal would provide tremendous operational flexibility in linking Thailand with the firm’s global network, while at the same time making service faster and more efficient.
