Increased online shopping expected by UK Royal Mail

UK postal company Royal Mail has predicted that there will be £3bn spent online in the four weeks leading up to Christmas.

The company goes on to state that this amount will be double what was spent last year and will mean that £15bn will have been spent online throughout 2003, again double the total for 2002.

Women now make up half of the 12m regular online home shoppers and spend on average £705 per year compared to £871 by men.
