UK door-to door marketing: opening new doors

Today, around 9.5 billion marketing items are delivered through letterboxes each year, with every household receiving more than 300 on average, around a third of which are not addressed to anyone in particular. DMA (UK) figures reveal that expenditure on door-to-door (D2D) marketing has risen by more than 23 per cent since 1998. New figures out in June are expected to show that spending jumped from GBP522m in 2000 to around GBP570m last year.

Greek Postal Service fined

The National Post and Telecommunication Commission (EETT) yesterday imposed a fine of 220,000 euros on the Postal Service for inadequate service during the first six months of 2002. Only 48.69 percent of first class domestic mail was delivered within one working day as opposed to the 77 percent stipulated by the government, EETT said, adding that service fell short of delivering incoming mail from abroad within three days of it being posted.

John Allen appointed CEO New Zealand Post

John Allen, currently Acting Chief Executive of New Zealand Post, has been appointed Chief Executive, Chairman Rt Hon Jim Bolger announced today. Mr Bolger said the appointment completed a four-month long international search that attracted over 90 applications. “A shortlist of five candidates from New Zealand and overseas was interviewed by a Board sub-committee. Their recommendation to appoint Mr Allen received unanimous support from a meeting of the full New Zealand Post Board today in Wellington.
