Olivier Diehl to Head DHL France

DHL France, the express forwarding subsidiary of German postal and logistics group Deutsche Post, is to see a change of management as Pascal Tomasso steps down to be replaced by Olivier Diehl, currently head of Ducros Euro Express. The company has confirmed the change at the top, as has Mr Tomasso, who is to take over as head of Brake France, the French subsidiary of UK food transport group Brake Bros.

Hewitt confirms Corbett departure from UK Postcomm

Trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt yesterday confirmed plans, revealed earlier this week in The Guardian, to end Graham Corbett’s reign as postal regulator. She will start a search for a successor immediately and will seek someone with industry experience – which Mr Corbett did not have – in a move to avoid the mistakes of the past.

Higher Mail volume lifts New Zealand Post profit

State-owned New Zealand Post made a net profit of $19.6 million in the six months to December, up 22.5 per cent on the second half of 2001.
Acting chief executive John Allen said yesterday that a 0.6 per cent increase in domestic mail volumes, driven by high business mail volumes, contributed to the result.

Domestic mail volumes increased by 0.8 per cent over the past 18 months, arresting a two-year decline.

The Pallet Network will add 50% this year

The Pallet Network, based in Leicester, says its 78-strong network handles 3,000 pallets a night. It predicts it will grow to 4,500 a night later this year. John Lewis Transport, running 14 trucks from Alcester, Warwickshire, is one of seven new members. John Lewis, which joined last month, covers several B and WR postcodes and is in a network for the first time.

Parcel revenue in Germany

Claude Begle (Geopost) at the IEA Conference in Barcelona said that the average revenue per parcel in Germany was € 3, weighed 7 kilos and they do 1.1 million a day and only a third go through the hub.
