UK Palletised freight network Pall-Ex is expanding into Europe and anticipating 35%- 40% growth this year.
Last year, the network saw volumes increase $0% and has outgrown its hub in Nottinghamshire. On 28th March, the company will open a new purpose built 20, 000sq metre hub in Leicestershire.

Polish courier express market

While other economic sectors have struggled in the midst of slackening economic growth across Europe, courier services have remained largely unscathed. Although the market is no longer growing at the breakneck pace of 150% a year, as was the case in the late 1990s, it still saw an increase in both the volume and the value of deliveries in 2002.

Of the 51 companies active on the local market, 25 are recent arrivals which registered last year. Despite the increasingly crowded market, all the major operators saw their revenues grow from 20% (Servisco) to 50% (Masterlink).

UK watchdog attacks mail box changes

Royal Mail has quietly introduced unannounced changes to collection service information displayed on its post boxes, the postal watchdog said yesterday. It no longer guarantees more than one daily collection from letter boxes and has removed tabs which tell customers if they have missed the last post. Boxes have been left overflowing in busy areas as the efficiency drive is rolled out, according to Postwatch, the postal services consumer rights organisation.

Monopoly Over Universal Postal Service in Bulgaria Extended by 2006

The monopoly of the Bulgarian Posts over universal postal service was extended by December 31, 2005 under amendments to the Postal Services Act, which Parliament adopted at second reading March 7.

The Bulgarian lawmakers also exempted the principal postal operator from payment of license fees by the end of 2005. The monopoly of the Bulgarian Posts over universal postal service expired at the end of 2002.

Spanish Seur To Invest 20 Mln Euro in Portugal 2003

Spanish distribution and logistics company Seur plans to invest some 20 mln euro ($22 mln) in Portugal in 2003, the company said on March 7, 2003.

The company generated 6.0 pct of its turnover in Portugal and forecast its operations in the country to account for 10 pct of its turnover in 2004, at the end of 2001.
