US Postmaster Promises on Stamp Rate

Postmaster General John Potter promised the nation Friday that, following this summer’s planned rate increase, postage prices won’t rise again for two years.
The postal governing board is expected to give final approval next week to a 3-cent rate increase, boosting first-class stamps to 37 cents this summer.
Once that increase is in place, Potter said: “I am committed to maintain that rate schedule until at least calendar year 2004.”

Wincanton wins new contract with Focus DIY

Wincanton has won a new contract to operate the Focus DIY warehouse at Severnside, formerly run in house by Great Mills. All 121 employees at the warehouse will be transferred to Wincanton in accordance with TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) regulations, and Wincanton says it plans to expand the workforce by a further 20%.

DHL opens tenth depot in Portugal

DHL Portugal recently inaugurated its tenth depot in Portugal in Viseu (in the central part of the country). Investment costs were EUR 900,000. DHL Portugal is a subsidiary of DHL Worldwide Express and has been active in Portugal since 1982.
