Today FedEx Ground, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX), will open 31 additional FedEx Home Delivery operations throughout the United States, expanding the service’s geographic reach to almost 90 percent of the U.S. population.
Twenty-nine of the new operations are being co-located with existing FedEx Ground facilities. Dedicated residential delivery service accounts for half of FedEx Ground’s package growth.
British Airways today said its cargo traffic fell by almost 25% in the last three months of 2001 as trans-Atlantic trade plunged in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Europe’s largest airline reported a pre-tax loss of £160 million ($226 million), its worst-ever for the fiscal third quarter, compared with a profit of $91.6 million in 2000 of $2.6 billion.
