SDSS deputy Volf prepares revision to law on postal services

Deputy Jaroslav Volf (the Slovak Social-Democratic Party) is already preparing a revision to the law on postal services, although parliament passed the law only at its last session. “The revision should exclude express services from the category of the universal postal service and shorten the period of Slovenska Posta’s (Slovak Post Office) monopoly in delivery of consignment up to 1 kg until the end of 2002,” informed Volf.

Chinese postal fee increase to go ahead

Postal charges will rise in April as planned – the first increase in six years.
Postmaster-General Luk Ping-chuen said yesterday there was no reason to further postpone the rise despite growing calls for cuts in public service fees and charges amid the economic downturn. Postage was originally set to be raised last month.

Tibbett & Britten new warehouse fails to deliver -Mothercare issues profits warning

The prospects of a swift recovery at Mothercare came to an abrupt halt yesterday when the company warned it had serious problems at its new warehouse which would hit full-year profits. Stores were running short of stock because of the warehouse hold-ups, and that was being reflected in lost sales. The warehouse is operated by Tibbett & Britten, which has a five-year contract. Mothercare chief executive Chris Martin said Mothercare would raise the issue of compensation once the full costs of the problem had been calculated.
