La Poste Explores Bank Partnership Options

The banks say they want close ties with La Poste (F.PST) but no longer see how they can incorporate it into Eulia, the two-way alliance they set up last year. As a result, France’s powerful national post office could end up looking elsewhere for the partner it needs to develop its banking business. ‘Eulia has been set up with two partners. Even with just two, it’s already difficult,” says Alexandre de Lestrange, an analyst who follows La Poste for ratings agency Standard & Poor’s. A lot of decisions have been taken, management has been appointed, teams have been put in place. It’s not going to be easy to start all over again three months on.

NZ Post Buys Stake in Maltapost

February 5, 2002 New Zealand Post, through its subsidiary Transend has bought a 35% stake in Maltapost. It wil manage Maltapost for 2 years. It will seek to develop mail systems and marketing and seek to establish arrangements in North Africa and the Middle East.

Post Office ranks as one of UK's top brands

More than 80 per cent of consumers consider the Post Office(tm) to be helpful, easy to deal with and knowledgeable, according to new research conducted by Millward Brown.
The survey also found that the Post Office was recognised as more important to the community, helpful and trustworthy than established household names such as British Gas and Marks and Spencer as well as newer companies such as Amazon and Virgin.

Post Office sheds 500 jobs

More than 500 jobs are to go at Post Office Limited (POL), the Consignia division that operates postal branches. The redundancies, out of a total POL workforce of 2,500, involve network managers and administrative posts and represent the first job losses under Consignia’s plan to reduce costs by Pounds 1.2 billion.

FedEx Home Delivery Expands to 90% of the US

Today FedEx Ground, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX), will open 31 additional FedEx Home Delivery operations throughout the United States, expanding the service’s geographic reach to almost 90 percent of the U.S. population.
Twenty-nine of the new operations are being co-located with existing FedEx Ground facilities. Dedicated residential delivery service accounts for half of FedEx Ground’s package growth.
