Alan Gershenhorn Named UPS Canada President

United Parcel Service (NYSE:UPS) today
announced that Alan Gershenhorn, a 23-year veteran of UPS, has been promoted
to president of UPS Canada. Gershenhorn, will be responsible for all UPS
operations in Canada, where UPS has been operating since 1975.
In his new role, Gershenhorn will draw on his extensive experience to
drive UPS Canada as an enabler of global commerce.

Consignia fills the top post

THE Post Office, now formally known as Consignia, yesterday appointed the former Asda chief executive Allan Leighton as its interim chairman. Mr Leighton, who has taken on a number of appointments since leaving Asda, has been a board director of the organisation since April. He is replacing Neville Bain, who retired at the end of the year. A spokesman for Consignia said yesterday that Mr Leighton would spend one day a week in the office and would support chief executive John Roberts.

Hungarian Post Office bids for all shares of state-owned Postabank

The Hungarian Post Office Rt has made an open bid for the purchase of all shares of [the state-owned] Postabank Rt at 180 per cent of their nominal value. The bid, which was published in Magyar Toekepiac [Hungarian Stock Market] today, has not yet been approved by the state supervision of financial institutions.

APL Logistics. part of the Singapore-based NOL Group, is continuing its shopping spree. <Previouslv APL Logistics really had very little presence in the US, but the acquisition of GATX Logistics was a major milestone in creating a presence in North and South America.” Mike Gardner, CEO of APL Logistics in Oakland said at a recent press conference in London. One or more acquisitions were being considered in Europe.
