Postcomm agrees working arrangements with OFT

Postcomm today published a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) setting out how it will work with the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) on issues affecting competition. This follows a three month consultation on a draft issued at the end of 2002. The OFT enforces the Competition Act 1998 (and recently the Enterprise Act 2002), which prohibits anti-competitive behaviour in the UK. Postcomm has a responsibility for enforcing Royal Mail’s licence, which, among other things, requires the company not to act anti-competitively. There is therefore a potential overlap between the roles of Postcomm and OFT in this area.

Moroccan Post Office turnover rises in 2002

The turnover achieved by “Barid Al-Maghrib”, Moroccan post authority, reached in 2002 1.09bn [Moroccan] dirhams (117.6m US dollars), which is a rise of 2 per cent compared to the figures of 2001.

The figures were released by Barid Al-Maghrib general manager during the company’s administrative board meeting. He also said the state-owned company’s financial results are on the rise.

Fedex expands Hong Kong logistics

FedEx Express said it has expanded its logistics distribution centers around Hong Kong by entering into agreements with two companies, TradePort Hong Kong and Sun Logistics.

FedEx said it is the first express transportation company to establish facilities at TradePort, the joint venture air freight hub, which will allow its Supply Chain division to optimize the handling of time-critical and time-sensitive products. FedEx plans to move into the new facility in mid-July.
