TPG CEO: No 4Q express gains

TPG NV Chief Executive Peter Bakker said sales growth at the Dutch postal and logistics company’s express operations in Europe showed no improvement in the fourth quarter. Express operations in Europe posted annual sales growth of just 2 percent since 2000. “It seems that we have to consider this growth rate as a reality for coming years,” Bakker was quoted as saying by Dow Jones.

Sondagsavisen accuses Post Danmark of price dumping

The Danish advertisements publishing and distribution company Sondagsavisen A/S said on Tuesday (2 December) that it had brought an action against the Danish postal services company Post Danmark before the Danish competition authority Konkurrencestyrelsen. Sondagsavisen said that it believed Post Danmark had violated its accounting regulations and performed illegal cross subsidisation in offering unaddressed door-to-door distribution of printed matter at loss-making prices.

New agreement between La Poste and SES

Under a new agreement with La Poste of France, SES Global subsidiaries SES Astra and SatLynx will offer satellite capacity and 2-way satellite broadband services for the former’s Cyberkiosque, SES said. The Cyberkiosque booths, located in public areas such as post offices and town halls, are computer terminals that use interactive satellite terminals to connect to the Internet.

Dell ties Australia Post in supply chain

Dell, the global computer manufacturer, has announced a contract with Australia Post for a state of the art supply and delivery operation.

Post Logistics, a division of Australia Post, will distribute Dell’s latest products, printers and ink and toner cartridges to Australian customers.

Dell has chosen Australia to be the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to roll out the printer product line, first launched in the US market in March this year.

DHL resumes flights to Baghdad

The global package delivery service DHL said it has resumed flights to Baghdad last week, six days after one of its planes was hit by a missile on its approach to the airport.

“From the advice we received, it is now a safe environment to fly,” DHL spokeswoman Patricia Thomson told The Associated Press. She said flights to Baghdad International Airport resumed last Friday and the cargo company would “soon try to commence with three flights per day.”
