US Postal Service to seek rate hikes in '04

The U.S. Postal Service plans to request a postage rate increase of at least 10 percent in October 2004. The Federal Times reported Wednesday that Deputy Postmaster General John Nolan told an audience Tuesday at the National Postal Forum in Kansas City that the Postal Service will apply for the rate increase, which likely would take effect a year later in October 2005.

Mail, Express and Logistics company TPG N.V. have announced that through its Italian mail subsidiary TPG Post Italia, it has acquired a 100% stake in the Italian print & mail company Full Service. With a long tradition in the print and mail market, Full Service has established a well-managed data processing, printing and outsourcing of data-related services business. In 2002, Full Service generated revenues of EUR2.5 million.

TPG Post Nederland Director Resigns

Albert Klene, the director of the postal division of Dutch postal, express and logistics company TPG NV, TPG Post Nederland, has resigned and is looking for another position within the company. A spokesperson of TPG has confirmed the resignation of Klene. The resignation of Klene was partially a result of disagreements with the member of TPG board of directors, Harry Koorstra, who carries the final responsibility for the postal activities as a member of the board of directors.

DHL to make India its south Asia hub

Having identified India as one of its four key growth markets in the Asia-Pacific region, global express and logistics company DHL will soon start operations at its first world-class courier terminal at the Delhi international airport.

The terminal, which would have an independent custom-bonded warehouse, would be soon replicated in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata airports as part of plans to make the country a “South Asia hub of choice”, DHL Worldwide Express India Country Manager Chris Callen said.
