TNT Logistics takes over Transitions warehousing

TNT Logistics Benelux and Transitions Optical EDC LTD, subsidiary of
Transitions Optical Europe, have signed a three and half year contract under
which Transitions will outsource to TNT Logistics its warehousing operation,
formerly based in Tuam, Ireland.

TNT Logistics Benelux will be responsible for inbound, storage and outbound
activities at its existing multi-user site in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Currently the transfer of goods, which started on May 13, takes place and will
be completed in the coming months. After the build up, TNT Logistics will
operate the complete scope of activities. Transitions is in the business of
manufacturing, purchasing and distributing plastic photochromic lenses for the
ophthalmic industry.

DHL ordered to hand over documents in U.S. probe

A judge has ordered DHL Worldwide Express, the U.S. arm of DHL Express, to hand over documents requested by FedEx Corp. and United Parcel Service in the investigation into the ownership of Astar Air Cargo, formerly DHL Airways. Some of the documents sought by FedEx and UPS involve the financial relationship between Brussels-based DHL International, and William Robinson, the former principal owner of DHL Airways.

Correios to invest USD38mn in internet projects

Brazil’s state-owned postal service ECT, known as Correios, plans to invest 113mn reais (today US$38mn) in three Internet projects over the next five years, on top of 37mn reais already spent, according to AE Setorial. The three projects – online shopping mall, Internet access and digital certification for tax identification numbers – should reach breakeven Correios Internet manager AntAnio de Paulo Braquehais was quoted as saying.

UK Royal Mail nets Fagan for corp affairs role

Royal Mail Group has appointed Sunday Telegraph deputy City editor Mary Fagan as corporate affairs director.

Fagan said she had begun a three-month notice period at the paper, but her start-date at the Royal Mail – where she will replace company stalwart Alan Williams, who revealed his plan to leave in May – was yet to be decided.

RGC Communications and the United States Postal Service have announced the formation of their partnership for the continuation and development of the next generation of NetPost Mailing Online. Mailing Online, the Postal Service’s first online printing and mailing service, offers businesses, approved non-profit organizations and consumers alike the ability to easily create and send post cards and letters at discounted postage rates. Over 10,000 people have used the service since its inception.

Mailsource UK Acquires Aptus Mailroom Services

MailSource have announced the acquisition of Aptus Mailroom Services.

Keith Buet, Chief Executive Officer of MailSource said that “Our immediate objective is to ensure that the Aptus Mailroom Services employees and clients are comfortable with the change and that all on-going projects are completed on schedule”

The acquisition grows the MailSource UK headcount to almost 700, an increase of 15% since the beginning of 2003. A dedicated team, experienced at transferring staff into MailSource have already met all employees and are working alongside their new colleagues ensuring a smooth transfer for staff and clients alike.

In addition to the staff increase, as a result of the purchase, ten existing Aptus contracts have novated to MailSource.
